Tarai arc landscape is a beautiful region. Tarai is lowland basically a water catchment area and foothills of Himalayas forms Tarai Arc Landscape.It comprises of 14 protected area both in Nepal and India. Area is quite rich in diversity and is also the home of endangered animals including Royal Bengal Tigers, Asiatic Elephants, Indian One horned Rhinoceros, Hispid hare, Gangetic dolphin, Sloth bear, Fishing cat, Smooth coated otters and Hog deer, to name a few. Also a breeding ground for Bengal Florican.
The main protected areas which fall under this landscape in India are “Jim Corbett Nation Park”, “Pilibhet Tiger Reserve”, “Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary”, “Dudhwa National Park” , “Katarniyaghat wildlife Sanctuary”,“Valmiki Tiger Reserve” and “Rajaji National Park”.
Tarai can be really surprising in terms of Photographic opportunities and sightings. Its an area where “rare is common”. That’s the tagline by Forest department and it holds to be true most of the times be it a special mammal or birds or reptiles
